i have 2 mirrored drives, 1 is with me, the other with an editor far far away.. whats the best way to work together on the exact same project?

i did this trick with Avid, where i put the project file on dropbox and all changes happened instantly... just had to stay away from working on the exact same timeline.

[Ludmil Kazakov] "i did this trick with Avid, where i put the project file on dropbox and all changes happened instantly... just had to stay away from working on the exact same timeline."

We always create a B-Project for the second editor just to make doubly sure we never overwrote each other's work. You can use the Media Browser to simply import the sequence from the other editor.

yes i know about importing a clip.. but if something happens the raw media might get imported again and its in the project twice.. i tried that before as i changed audio settings on the actual clip it brought in the media again. which is stupid.. so on one timeline u have the clip source from one folder, on the other from another..

Hi Ludmil...

1) if you take a look at the thread I point at in the first response....this is addressed.

2) additionally, as Walter points out, if you import sequence revisions via Media Browser...it should avoid asset duplication.

points 1 and 2 work together: if you use the XMP tagging pref, the asset is more likely to be properly recognized as existing in the project by PPro.

The big point is that

1) pref should be enabled brefore importing any assets into a project (so they'll get tagged)
2) 2 editors down' work on the same project, but 2 projects using the same asset set.
A) import assets
B) dupe Project as editor B
c) import editor B's work into A's via Media Browser
