In FCP and Avid, I was able to set my in/out duration in either source or program monitor but can't figure out how to do it in Premiere. When I punch in numbers into the monitor, I'm only able to see the timeline timecode. Thanks! I use this function all the time.

Hi Sonia,

I don't think there is a "duration" function...

love to be wrong...

but I think it's

MARK IN

+2.00

MARK OUT

or

MARK OUT

-2.00

MARK IN

remember that durations are not inclusive

so those durations would actually be 2:01 as done above

if you want 2:00 you need to subtract a frame (based on your frame rate)

so, 1:29 (for example)

Thank you Alex! I'm going to suggest that function to Premiere; adding and subtracting's a pain when on other platforms I can just mark an in, type the desired duration and voila, in/out duration marked. Surprised it's not integrated. Just switched this year to Premiere from FCP7 and I love it otherwise.

Cheers!

Yeah....that seems like a fundamental...

Out and duration to back time the IN

or just where you are parked as understood IN

and just hit D for duration...

I'm guessing you can only punch in these durations when you have a numeric keypad? I'm functioning on a "regular" one, and when I punch the numbers that I have along the top, nothing happens.

Just guessing where I want my out point to be and then shifting left and right with my arrow keys to land on the precise spot is kinda driving me nuts.
