Hi there,

I've got myself in a bit of a pickle editing with .mxf files on premiere pro. I shot using a canon xf100 and initially thought i could convert the files to a codec i'm familiar with in order to edit in Final Cut. However, i couldn't find a free programme that didn't leave a watermark or diminish the quality.

So i dragged and dropped the .mxf files straight into Premiere Pro CS5.5 and let the sequence adjust itself to the files. I now don't know how to export the files so they will play on my media player and also retain a high quality image. So far, the only way i've been able to keep quality is by exporting it back out as an .mxf files :(

Does anyone have any advice on what I can do?

All the best,

Winnie

Hi Winnie. It seems like you are asking two questions. First question seems to be about what to transcode to in order to edit in FCP with files coming (I presume) from a Windows PC.

Then the second question appears to be what format to complete your final render in for playback.

Is this right?

What media player are you using?

Please provide more information, so we can help.

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.
