I'm trying to make a video of our family vacation to the Bahamas in the style of "The Love Boat" TV series from the 80's. I've figured out how to do most of the effects but i'm having trouble with the transitions that uses an anchor to go from one scene to the next. I need to bend the shape of a vertical wipe to match the shape of the bottom of the anchor, but premiere pro doesn't give my an option to do that. Can you bend the shaped of a wipe? Is there a way to do this? I'm really frustrated because it is the only thing keeping me from finishing the video.

Here's the anchor transitions i'm trying to replicate in this video:

You can't alter the shape of the stock transitions. You can create custom gradient shapes to get close to the same effect. I created one in Photoshop. You can use it if you like or use it as a guide to make your own.

Apply the Gradient Wipe transition between your clips, it will open a dialog box to ask you the Gradient Wipe Settings, click on Select Image... and chose your custom gradient. Then key your anchor in a layer above and keyframe it to match the wipe.

You can build this type of transition using Ppro's gradient wipe with your own gradients made in Photoshop or you could buy the "Supa Wipe" plug in that does exactly what you want.

The image needs to fill the sreen either horizontal for vertikal wipe or v.v.

Or use a track matte the shape of the anchor (only the lower part needs to be curved)
If you want the anchor to go vertically you need a very wide anchor assuming your sequence is widescreen.
Something like this:
