Hi,

If I grade my video with Premiere using it's 32-bit colour processing...

Is there actually any point in doing this if you're exporting to an 8-bit codec such as H.264?

Thanks

The benefit of higher bit colour processing is that you're not stuck with 8-bit values down the line. If you crush the blacks in a previous correction you should be able to bring those back in a later correction.

Thanks,

But will it also mean giving my footage for "steps" between the values? Giving my grade a smoother look with smoother gradients?

And would this follow through to my export even if I am exporting to an 8bit codec?

It does not make your footage any better or worse. It just has bigger values do deal with the mathematics that's going on with the image processing.
