I've seen dozens and dozens of these posts on CreativeCOW but still have not found ANYTHING that has helped one bit. Most advice is overly complex instructions followed by acronyms galore. At this point, I'm aware that the answer must not be so simple, otherwise I would have found a way to fix this problem by now, but please, if you answer, try your best to dumb it down as best as you can as if you can.
I shot a music video for a friend. There are multiple shots of him playing the guitar. All of these videos were shot at a 48k video bit rate. The main audio for the track (the one in which I am syncing all of the guitar clips to) is 44.1k.
When I drag a clip onto the timeline and sync up the beginning of the clip to the proper part of the audio track, it takes mere seconds before you can tell the video is no longer in sync. If the shot was 5 seconds long, it takes 2 seconds before it starts to get out of sync. IF the video is a minute long, it takes much longer before everything falls out of sync.
I have tried many different things in order to resolve this issue. I have exported the 44.1k audio to 48k, and it is still not syncing.
I did the opposite, and tried making the video 44.1k (though I know this isn't a great way to go about it) and it's still out of sync.
Nothing I do seems to be working and I have a deadline. If someone can help me I would very much appreciate it!
I am currently using a macbook pro OS X yosemite if that helps.

What is the frame rate of your video clips? And the frame rate of your timeline? Are they matched?

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2014 (as of 7/2015)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from HD MP4 and P2 MXF.

They are both 23.976. They match.

I had a similar problem but it was iphone shot video that would
go out of sync.

the fix was to transcode the video to prores

might try one just to see if somehow that solves it.

I still had sync issues when using adobe media encoder, but
when I tried it with apple compressor it worked and the sync was fixed.

I tried that.. Still nothing. There were many options to choose from once I was exporting to ProRes such as Optimize Stills, Field Order, Aspect and Render at Maximum Depth (24 or 48).. I'm not really educated on every little thing I usually just choose presets or Youtube a tutorial on what to adjust those to. But the video is still slowly drifting out of sync. Perhaps you can tell me the exact settings that you used? Also, there is ProRes 422, HQ, LT, Proxy, and 4444. I'm not sure which one will best suit me. Do they matter specifically?

Just the default apple prores setting.

The main aspect of the conversion that fixed it was getting the audio
from iphone AAC compressed to uncompressed 48khz 16-bit.

sounds like your problem is different though at this point.

What if you were to export your 44.1 audio track (within premiere). as a separate audio clip
but alter it to 48 on the export then bring it back in?

or convert the 44.1 in audition to 48 then import that?

Likely the "fix" you are looking for will be some kind of out of the box thinking like that. (crazy as it sounds)
