So the alt menu from windows is driving me nuts. Every time when I adjust my zoom and try to play the sequence or switch tools, it accesses the menu bar. So every time i have to remember to click/press alt before doing anything.

I'm wondering if there is a setting to rebind zooming from alt to control to stop this from happening. Or basically any other solution to this annoyance (within Premiere itself, I know I can install hotkey software to rebind things)

I'm using Premiere CC 2015

Running Premiere Pro CC 2015 (or CS6 if i say so)
On windows 10 with:
i7 2600k at 3.4 GHZ
GTX 560 ti
16gb 1333mhz ddr3
in a case
with a mouse and keyboard.

Natalie,

Premiere has extremely flexible keyboard programming and reprogramming, and Premiere online help on the topic is extremely thorough and easy to understand - much more so than anyone here can be. To truly wrap your head around the topic, you really to dig into Adobe's clear and concise instructions.

I can't seem to find documentation on this, other than just the simple "keyboard shortcuts" within the edit menu (which does not include the option to rebind this). Additionally, I couldn't find a specific setting in preferences related to it. I'm assuming that I need to make some kind of script. Care to point me towards adobe's help about this more advanced topic?

I ended up creating an Auto Hot Key Script that gets you out of the alt menu when you release left alt. If you want to use this, download Auto Hot Key, save this into a .ahk file, and put it in the startup folder

#NoEnv ; Recommended for performance and compatibility with future AutoHotkey releases.
; #Warn ; Enable warnings to assist with detecting common errors.
SendMode Input ; Recommended for new scripts due to its superior speed and reliability.
SetWorkingDir %A_ScriptDir% ; Ensures a consistent starting directory.

#IfWinActive, Adobe Premiere Pro
~$LAlt UP::
sleep, 200
Send, {Alt Up}
return
