I'm trimming a timeline in PP CC 7.2.2 and would like to place the cut/deleted shots in an "Outs" bin. Can't make this happen.
When I drag a clip from timeline into a bin, it shows up in the bin as black.

I can "copy" in the timeline but there's no "paste" option in the bin. I can drag the clips into another timeline but not into a bin.
I seem to remember doing this all the time in FCP7.
This timeline was heavily processed--deinterlaced and uprezzed . . .
Any ideas? Many thanks.

you should be able to "Subclip" to the bin.

Thank you, Alex, that's a helpful tool.
Here's how I've found it works. . .
Select a clip in the timeline with in/out, make subclip.
Select a clip in the source monitor and make subclip.
On OK, it automatically makes a subclip in the main project folder, which I can them move to an "Outs" bin.
I'm not finding a way to save the subclip with my in/out points marked.
If I unselect "Restrict Times to Boundaries" it saves the whole clip with no record of my in/out points. I'm not able to add markers to the source clip or the timeline that are saved with the subclip.
If I do select "Restrict Times" it only saves the part of the clip between in/out.
Maybe I'm missing something, but this is indeed a way to save timeline clips to a bin, if not with the marker information.

hmmm....

what version of PPro are you on?

when I drag a clip from the timeline to the project panel...

(no subclipping)

it remembers my in/out as set on the timeline....

i'm running 8.1

Thanks, Alex, I'm running 7.2.2.
And now I see the drag method was working all along---the first shots I dragged had long slow fade-ins from black and so showed up black. My dumbo!
I've learned some other things along the way, though, about duplicating in-progress sequences for backup reference instead of the whole project file.
And your tips about subclips.
Thanks again for your responses!
