Hi,

I have a Premiere CC edit that had several tracks of dialogue, most of which I muted. I also sent some of it to Audition for noise reduction, so the timeline is linked to the "extracted audio" (however, I'm sure the sound designer will want to to do his own noise reduction, so I duplicated the sound that I sent to audition beforehand and put it on tracks below).

What is the best way to get all of this over to a sound designer, working on ProTools? The thing I don't like about the AAF export from Premiere is that it has no audio fades, which is really part of the way I edited the dialogue. Is OMF the best way to go?

What about the muted tracks? They don't show up in AAF or OMF. What if the sound designer wants to use dialogue tracks I didn't?

Unmute the tracks before making the OMF?

Thanks, Tero. I did think of that, but the AAF or OMF doesn't accurately capture audio levels either, so there would be no guide for the designer about which tracks I used in my edit. I get I could just unmute everything and let him pick through the tracks and use the ones he felt were best - also, I could give him notes, but these would probably be confusing and time consuming to make and would probably go unused. I wish there was an ideal way to send him the edit, basically how I mixed it in Premiere, but still give him access to all the material to change as he sees fit.

Give him two AAFs. One using only your intended tracks. The other, having the alternates.

Also provide a wav or aiff of your rough mix.

A bit tedious to prepare, but might avoid headaches later.

Ah! That's a great idea, John!
