Why is the "Source Settings" for Red footage selection now greyed out in Premiere? I'm sure it's user error...

It was at a Vegas premiere that I resolved to become an avid FCPX user.

Source Settings are now Master Clip Effects.

Around 26:10 in following video:

Yes, Source Settings are now an intrinsic (built in) effect located in the Effect Controls panel. A bit confusing the first time you try it.

Thanks,
Kevin

That works with Red footage but no such effect with Sony raw? Is that correct?

Thanks,

Lance

Should be any format that previously had Source Settings, is now moved to Master Clip Effects. This should include Sony RAW. Just checked a clip and it was now under Master Clip Effect in CC 2015 (9.0)

I'm not having any luck - R3D file in the timeline > and when I click on the Master Clip effects (as shown in the video above in this thread) nothing is there! Nada!

Is this with a new CC 2015 (9.0) Project or using a previous version Project (e.g.: CC 2014 8.2)? In the case of previous version Projects with RED media, it will still use Source Settings (for compatibility). The change to Master Clip Effect is only with new CC 2015 (9.0) Projects.

The problem with this structure is that in the past you could select multiple takes; select "source settings"; make your adjustments; and they would be applied to all the highlighted clips. Now it seems the best you can do is copy the adjustments, then paste it, one clip at a time...after you've put it into the sequence. I don't get why this was necessary. Didn't add any functionality and it makes the workflow much less streamlined. I liked being able to care of all the RAW work at once.

if you right click on "red source settings" in the effects tab and copy, you can then select multiple clips in the bin and paste.

another cool feature is you can now write your settings to the RMD so they carry over to resolve. however, i haven't found a way to write to multiple RMD's at once. seems like a one-at-a-time process...

What if the project was started on 8.0 and you are now in 9.0? I don't see source option or master clip option.

Open the RED clip in the Source monitor or select it in a Timeline Sequence, then select the Effect Controls panel. Upper left you should see Master * clip name and the Source Settings should be there.

What version of Premier are you using because we have the latest version and that source setting doesn't exist.

Still not working on our end. We will just have to edit in the 2014 version.

That is odd. Does the old Source Settings dialog work for your RED file(s) in CC 2015?

I'm not a huge fan of losing the source option in the timeline, but I am making do. However - once adjusting RED raw data in the master effects window I am unable to save to RMD or for that matter load from RMD. Clicking on those options do not open a dialogue box. That is kind of a huge issue.

My problems is slightly different. In Effect control panel, the Master clip effects is greyed out for merged clips on timeline, it only works for red footage without audio. If you click that master clip effect tab, it will show text - multiple clips are selected. Is there any way to work around it?

If you opened a 2014 projekt or older you need to have the 2015.0.2 update installeld. Then you can hit your hotkey for the source settings panel. Its the old one so Its backward compatible.

I have some issue with the 2015 and 2015.0.2 thoe. Just have to give a little warning. But the source settings works fine with the 2015.0.2

Thanks, Joel

I can get access to the source setting by hitting the hotkey on timeline like you said, but it won't live update the scopes with luts on the adjustment layer above. It only shows the scope for the original footage itself. But if you click the clip level on the right side, the scope is live updated, that means I have to adjust it back and forth, very time consuming and very hard to get 100% right.
