No audio scrub with Avid Artist Transport controller

I'm getting silky smooth jogs with my external controller but no audio scrubbing. Is there an enable I'm missing? Shift-S only works for muting while using the keyboard.

I know this was posted way back in 2015, but I'm having this issue as well. Are there any answers out there?

This video explains how to do it:

The option he shows is how to map the left and right arrow keys to the jog wheel which is not exactly what I wanted, so I mapped Shift+J and Shift+L instead.

This blogpost also helps:

Thanks for the response.

I've done this mapping and the scrubbing with the jog wheel works quite well for playing through the video, it always has, but I still get no audio while scrubbing with the jog wheel. I DO get audio when using the arrow keys to move frame by frame in either direction, but not with the wheel.

Am I the only one with this issue?

Thanks.

I can't remember if this is required but have you got audio scrubbing enabled in Premiere?

OK, so I've just tried this again, deleting my set-up and starting from scratch in Premiere 2017.

It all works exactly as the guy suggests it will. You need to turn on audio scrubbing, as I mentioned.

Obviously in his set-up he's just mapping the left and right arrows to the Jog Wheel so you're not getting smooth scrubbing, but I can confirm that it works.

His explanation is not terribly helpful since he rushes over the bits that you really need to get straight ... but it does work.

Thank you, Simon, for all your help.

First of all, you're right, it DOES work, and I DO now have audio when using the Jog Wheel. THANKS!!

Here's what I've noticed:
1) The Jog Wheel - You're correct, this manual mapping of the Jog wheel, while allowing audio, does not work nearly as well for video as the default mapping. There is no speed control. ie moving the wheel rapidly does not cause the playhead to move faster. There is only one speed. Is there a cure for this? Multiple arrow keys perhaps? Why oh why can't we get audio with the default mapping?!?! So frustrating.
2) Shuttle Wheel - For some reason, both the default Shuttle Wheel mapping and the custom mapping both produce audio. So, they both work in that regard. However, the default mapping has problems moving the playhead as it often will reset the playhead to the beginning of the project when switching directions. So, that's out. I'll go with the custom mapping for Shuttle control.

So, I'd like to be able to switch between the custom and default mappings of the Jog Wheel. I've managed to setup 2 buttons, one for each, and that works fine, but I'm wondering if there's a way to map the OFF state of the Soft Buttons, so that I can have the default Jog Wheel mapping used when a soft button is off, and have the custom mapping in effect when it's on. Any ideas there?

Thanks again for your help on this.

I think we're looking at the fact that EuCon is not ideal for this, at least in Premiere.

I've tried mapping the jog wheel to Shift+J for left and Shift+L for right, and that sort of works, but it still only gives you one speed and doesn't respond quickly enough to changes in the jog wheel direction. It's marginally more scrub like than the left/right arrow option, but it's still fairly useless.

If you come up with a solution, please do post it here.

Thanks.
