What is so special about a fade in FCP7
Premiere has cross fade, film fade or make your own with bezier curves.

The big difference is that you can fade out and in by applying one transition (Final Cut Pro 7) as oppose to adding 2 transitions and space (In Adobe Premiere Pro CC) between the two.

I'm fairly new to Premiere Pro CC, and I'm trying to streamline my workflow.

Select the clip(s) and apply the transition.

Mark are you talking about a Dip to Black transition? PPro has Dip to Black and Dip to White.

No. It is a fade out, fade in transition that you can apply to two clips joined together.

[Mark Jackson] "No. It is a fade out, fade in transition that you can apply to two clips joined together."

That's exactly what PPro's dip to black/white transition does. Drop it on an edit point and it will fade out the out-going clip and then fade-in on the incoming clip.
