When exporting a timeline with closed captions, there is a dialog box that allows you to embed the captions in the video on both MXF files and ProRes files. We have successfully done this with MXF files, but the ProRes files don't work.

When we try to export, we select the ProRes codec, click on "embed file" under the captions tab, and start the export. The files are NOT there.

Anyone else having these problems with ProRes?

I could never get that to work either, just side car (separate file)

The only embedded captions I could export were .mxf like you .

If you look at the MOV output in QuickTime Player, is there a text track in? Or does MediaInfo see any caption tracks at all?

Cheers, James

No...captions were not available on a ProRes file when viewed in Quicktime Player.
