I'm under the gun and trying to bring bring some new PPro 1920x1080 clips into an old FCP timeline. I export using Quicktime with a XDCAM EX 1080p24 (35 Mb/s VBR) setting. When I open the exported file in Quicktime the inspector shows:

Format: Apple XDCAM EX 1080p24 (35 Mb/s VBR), 1920 x 1080 (1888 x 1062)

Why is 1888 x 1062 in parenthesis?

Dan

Don't sweat it... If it looks okay you're good to go.

What is your screen resolution? Are you playing it at full size (actual size) or Fit To Screen size? I haven't faced this personally, but I might hazard a guess.

1. It's showing you what the video is currently playing at for resolution.

2. Your aspect ratio is off (most use square pixels, but some will use other ratios to cut the size or shape of the viewing area around the video to drop the amount of border black is shown during playback.

Play it. If it isn't stretched, check your screen resolution. You may be playing it back at that resolution instead of at it's native. 1880 is actually the double of 1440. My own screen is 1440 x 900, which is not a perfect 16:9 aspect setting (square pixels), and when I play back 1920 video, it plays outside my screen size, so I set it to my screen size by using fit to screen. I've never checked if this puts any info in the inspector window, but that may be your culprit.

My cinema Display resolution is 2560 x 1600, but I'm not playing these back at full monitor size. So I don't think my monitor is limiting the output.

In Premiere the setting is "fit" program monitor. But that's just during editing. It doesn't fit to my full monitor.

It opens in Qucktime and indicates current resolution as 1888x1062, but when I drag Quicktime's frame size larger or smaller, the current size changes. The size 1888x1062 in parenthesis in Quicktime's inspector never changes, which seems to mean that it has been output at that size. ???

It's the size of the player window. It doesn't have anything to do with what kind of video the file actually has.

"It's the size of the player window."

Is that Quicktime's player window?

Is it necessary to render first before export? Or does rendering automatically render?

[Dan Chapman] "Is it necessary to render first before export?"

No unless you want to use the preview format you set in the sequence settings for the final export. You need to select the "use previews" checkbox in the export settings if you want to use that.
