Can you use the phrase in context?

If it's something a client requested it doesn't necessarily mean that it's terminology typically used by anyone else in our biz, but in context we might be able to feret it out for you.

I'll assume that it means something like …. placing the unmarked master clips in the general sequence they are to play….and then cutting way extraneous bits in the sequence.

progressively getting to the final edit via subtracting out the bits you don't want.

I kind of assumed the same, but since it's really not common vernacular in the biz I didn't want to make an assumption, because we all know that usually accomplishes nothing positive.

Try this for in a sentence.

Editor needed for cut-downs from episodes from a previous series. Must have experience with FC 7.

It means you'll be working from finished masters with mixed tracks, and you'll have to deal with transitions and mixed tracks as best as you can.

It means you'll be editing from the original Master shows to make shorter, edited versions of them.

Must have experience with Final Cut Pro 7 is what the FC7 means.
