External Monitor Woes
on Jun 21, 2013 at 11:04:25 am

Hi,
I have upgraded to CC, and am having problems with my external monitor.
I posted before yesterday, and thanks for the replies, but now I have a new issue.
I updated the nvidia drivers, and did what Mike suggested, but to no avail. I had it working briefly with the source monitor, but not the program monitor. I new started the computer, and now the playback settings are greyed out..

Whats going on with this now?

Any help appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Simon

[Simon Roughan] "and did what Mike suggested, but to no avail."

What did Mike suggest? Starting a new thread for the same problem makes it harder for us to help you. If you're having a continual problem, keep the entire issue in the same thread so we can easily see what others have suggested.

Sorry, Mike suggested I unclick the Blackmagic box in the Playback Preferences, then restart the computer, then click it on again.
It didnt work.

The selections are greyed out because the app is not seeing the card. What might be happening is that you are not using a BMD sequence. Try using a BMD sequence preset and see if you get different results.

Thanks for replying Kris.
I would have thought it must be seeing the card, as it has the option for Blackmagic Playback there. It's just not selectable. I will try what you suggest though.
Thanks

On Edit:
I tried creating a new sequence with black magic settings, then went to preferences, but the playback options are still greyed out.

[Kris Merkel] "What might be happening is that you are not using a BMD sequence."

There's no such thing as an AJA or BMD sequence any longer with CC. Adobe is now handling the Transmit Engine.

Ensure you have the latest BMD Drivers and plug-ins that were just released for CC. Be sure to uninstall the old ones first.

Thanks for the replies. I did install the new drivers, from BMD and Nvidia.
I have just found out what the problem was. You have to click the enable transmit option from the program window's wing menu!
I got that help from the adobe forum. Funnily enough, the official adobe tech support was stumped as well.
Thanks again.

THIS is why I constantly read the forums. I'm not on the CC yet, but plan to be. And when I do, I'll know that if I can't get external monitoring to work, that I need to tick a box somewhere. If I don't remember it exactly, I can search here.

Hi guys,

This is a new setting for Premiere Pro CC. Many users wanted to ability to quickly enable and disable Transmit without having to go inside the preferences. Also note that you can create a keyboard shortcut for this feature too.

Just for the record Transmit is enabled by default.

Best,

I'm having issues too with the BM card. I have a kona but haven' tried installing that. I get video that turns on and off during playback from the T/L through the BM at about 4 times a second. Vid black vid black.... It appears ok if I match in and play from the source viewer. Also I believe this was OK until I upgraded PPro CC to the patch that came out the other day but not positive.

Also I thought the video card specific sequence settings had gone away. Kind of confused to see those back again at least for the BM card. Maybe that's only for the BM codec. The sequence settings had no effect, tried several. Some media in my seq played OK. The entire seq plays perfectly in CS6.

Also I noticed the BM resolution settings seem to be gone in the view settings. Is that moved somewhere?

Just an update, if I use a Canon XF seq it seems to work OK. If I use my custom ProRes seq, the BM seq, or AVCHD, I get the strobing. I have check the transmit setting and it is on.

And also the video that strobes is from a multi cam seq. If I turn on the multi cam mode in the record monitor, it does not strobe. It is a simple 2 cam seq.
