 | Digitizing Analogue video

I have an old Sony Handycam Video 8 with heaps of old tapes I want to convert to DVD. It has the old red, white and yellow output sockets. I have connected the yellow socket to the s-video connection on my Nvidia Quadro graphics card with a converter cable.
I have set the camcorder to VTR and opened up Premier Pro CS5's Capture window but I'm told the capture device is offline.
What am I missing here? How do I get Premier to read from the s-video input? Or am I going about this all the wrong way?
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

You can only capture with firewire into Premiere.
You need a device like a Grass Vally converter to get you footage into Premiere.
