Rumor and Pure Speculation PP2.0-- Long Beta Testing---NAB 2006?
on Nov 18, 2005 at 3:05:39 pm

As my hopes for a Thanksgiving present has faded, I look forward and think./

Rumor
2.0 is a major major upgrade to 1.5 --that's the rationale for the time required to finish the release.

Speculation
If Beta testing goes on much long and PP is not released by the end of the year, the next "big" show to make a splash is in April at NAB 2006. If Adobe is on that Timetable, then Beta testing can go on through March.

Question
Will Adobe wait for the big meeting, or is the announcemnt of PP2.0 big enough news all by itself.

Richard,

[Richard Milner] "Will Adobe wait for the big meeting, or is the announcemnt of PP2.0 big enough news all by itself."

In my never too humble opinion, the optimum is to release something big prior to the big show to develop significant buzz on the run up to the show and drive traffic. And don't forget, it ain't just PPro that gets updated but the whole video collection and that oughta be a big enough bang to get lotsa press without it being diluted by the all the press surround the show.

It would not seem wise to wait until NAB. I fear that there would be too much movement over to FCP. After making the investment in the hardware, who would come back in April?

You know, it is difficult to know which product is the one holding up the show. They release four at one time. Maybe Audition is the weak link, or After Effects. Who knows. In any case, I think that when they are done, they will release. Waiting until April seems too long to me. But we will know as soon as Adobe wants us to know. Ya know?

Since it is a full version release X.0, I am not surprised it is taking them so long. But again, most of us can only speculate.

I would not be hurry to see a new version if not will bring to us what would be waiting for. What's the parameters the developers follow to make new upgrades??
I never see a poll asking for "wishes" in the new comings... or may be go upscale for what Vegas/FC is showing... or what???
I have a list of "will like to see" in next versions but how I contact the designers?

I remember that JVC & Sony did this kind of research & later bring us products with excellent results.
My standalone Screenplay nle offer lot of things that PP wouldn't... plus the easy to use. What stand up in this PC editors like PP is the integration with others progs like Bluff Titler, After Effects, 3D Album and so on and the DVD authorizing must be.

Now, when the Adobe people will bring us the oportunnity to participate in future upgrades of Premiere??

The feature request mechanism on the Adobe site has been in effect as long as I've been using the software...

http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html

Adobe does take considerable amounts of user input from a wide cross section of users to develop their products...

As far as "what editors like"...well that's a discussion we had below rather extensively. What "each" editor likes appears to vary by quite a margin...

What's the betting on what v2 will include - full support for HDV? How does that leave Aspect HD?

[Lloyd Coleman] "It appears that After Effect is not holding up the show. There have been several pretty credible leaks about AE7. Check this link out

http://www.highend2d.com/news/software/43.html

If AE is ready, we can only hope the whole collection is close behind."

Software can be demo'd to that extent with all sorts of issues...beta demos are structured to work around those things...I've done it before myself. I'm not saying what is or isn't, but I don't think I'd use that demo as a prime indicator...
