Frame Rate Conversions
on Feb 27, 2020 at 8:04:34 am

Hi All,

I want to convert, 60sec, 30sec, 20sec and 15sec masters from
01. 25fps to 29.97fps, and from
02. 23.98fps to 29.97fps?

These would need to be without duplicate frames and the run lengths would need to remain the same.

Tried
25 fps clip dragged in 29.97 fps Timeline, by Keep Existing Setting. Speed adjusted to the source clip duration.

01.Optical Flow- So wherever there is a cut the frame before and after is in a liquid effect.
02. Frame Blending - So wherever there is a cut the frame before and after is dissolving.
03. Frame Sampling- Duplicate frames are coming.

Help Needed
Thanks
Vipin

When you convert lower frame rates to higher frame rates, pulldown will always duplicate frames. It's physics.

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.

23.98 to 29.97 INTERLACED...easy. Pulldown added to blend in the fields of video. 23.98 to 29.97 PROGRESSIVE? Sorry, frames will be repeated, or blending will occur. You are making 6 frames up out of thin air (5 with 25fps).

Hardware converters will do a better job...such as Alchemist. And you can do some decent frame blending with After Effects, but not always perfect. Fast moves will make for odd ghost frames.
