Premiere Pro cc18 media import issue
on May 9, 2019 at 6:56:32 pm

Hi
Im finding on some video files that when imported and placed on the timeline, Premiere pro is cutting off before the complete end of the file when played outside Premiere where it plays completely.

Would anyone have any thought son why this might be and importantly what I can do in premiere to regain access to the whole file, which is usually a couple of seconds longer?

Is this a variable frame rate issue.
Any help much appreciated

NB Copying the original through quicktime or Mpeg streamclip and creating an h264 or mov fixes it but Id like to be able to go straight into Premiere.
Will CC19 fix it?

What is the original media source? Camera? Phone? What make/model? What is the wrapper and codec?

We can only make wild guesses without this information.

Yes, theoretically, it could be a variable frame rate issue. This is not a PPro malfunction.

System:
Dell Precision T7600 (x2)
Win 7 64-bit
32GB RAM
Adobe CC 2017.1 (as of 8/2017)
256GB SSD system drive
4 internal media drives RAID 5
Typically cutting short form from UHD MP4, HD MP4, and HD P2 MXF.

The files are recordings made of a webinar, so not from a camera at all.
They are mp4 H264 codec. frame rate in quicktime inspector says 29.87 (!!!!!!)
