colour difference between computers

Hey everyone I'm hoping someone has an easy solution for this. I've finished grading a short film on Davinci Resolve 16 full studio version. I'm now sending a .DRP over to our editor to do the final mix and output but he's noticing that there's a colour difference between my final grade and his timeline. When he brings my 422 ProRes full resolution export into his system there's a dramatic difference in colour between his timeline and the 422 file on a timeline. Now, he is on a PC and I'm on a iMac pro but in theory the two timelines should match up without issues. Any information on this would be hugely appreciated.

I believe we are missing information on your editor's setup to help you troubleshoot further.

Following are a few pointers:
. known issues with playing back Quicktime Apple ProRes file with Quicktime player and other players... gamma shift among others
. not all the players are created equal... they will use the OS resources differently, or bypass them completely.

and a few questions/comments:
. which editing system does he use?
. can he reload your drp file in Resolve and check your file against his timeline using a difference matte?
. if your editor is already using Resolve, does he have the same settings than yours on your system? how about Color management settings?

Also if there are timeline grades then those will affect everything.

Hi folks,

first question:
Do you have a proper monitoring?
If you don't have at least a class 2 monitor with a breakout card you just do not know what you are doing. A computer monitor, except an expensive calibrated eizo monitor, will not show you an exact picture.
second question:
Which color space are you working in?

cheers
