• | AAF import issue - clips with offset
on Apr 3, 2012 at 9:59:37 am |
Hello
I've experienced some issues when I import an AAF into Resolve.
Specs:
AAF with link to media from Avid 5.5.3
There is only one video track and no dissolves or effects
The project.
1080p 25fps
DNXHD 120
Multicam - which has been committed
Shot on: Sony PDW-700 / XDCAM
DaVinci Resolve 8.2
Media: DNXHD 120
The import goes smoothly and all the media is reconnected, a lot of the clips has though an offset of 1-2 frames. I see this when I use the mixed vipe and match up my reference video and the timeline in Davinci. This means that I have to manually move almost every clip 1-2 frames to get it in the correct spot.
What I've tried so far.
In Avid
- AAF with consolidated media
- AAF with protocol, Marks, selected tracks
- I even tried to make an AAF of the timeline before it was cleaned up to one track - I am actually glad this didn't work.
- EDL - that didn't work at all
In DaVinci
- Started a new project and added the media to the media pool again
Any suggestions would be appreciated
Yours Sincerely

Hi Tina,
[Tina Hedegaard] "There is only one video track and no dissolves or effects"
in this case a simple edl should do the job very well.
I havn't any idea about your reported issue, but edl (cmx 3600) should give you a perfect conform - if not you might check your offline/reference.
What does it mean "- EDL - that didn't work at all"?
All the best.

Hello Knut
Thanks for your response.
What I meant with "EDL - that didn't work at all" is that I tried to make an EDL CMX 3600 and when I imported it in DaVinci then there was a conflict on each clip, so I had to choose the right clip for each clip. I also tried to make an EDL (I can't remember the name) that is used to RED material with room for long reels. But it was the same.
I've made both the EDL, AAF and the reference from the same sequence - though the reference had audio as well
Yours Sincerely

Have you checked the timeline conform options in project tab?
This should help you out and is very well described in the manual.
Also checking 'extract reel names from edl comment' in settings tab could be usefull.
No reels no fun :)
Best
