I'm using footage from AE and bringing it into Photoshop to make cel style frame by frame animations, then Rendering Video of that animation out of Photoshop and bringing it back into After Effects to put on top of footage. But the frame rates look like they're not matching up. My AE comp is set to 23.976, I have my Photoshop frame rate settings at 23.976, when I bring the mp4 back into After Effects I do interpret footage and it's 23.976, but the animated clip still looks so much shorter than what it should be. If I do a time extension on the layer, of course it just looks weird.
Not sure why that doesn't work, but in any case it would be much better to export the video from Photoshop as individual uncompressed frames for editing in AE. You can set the frame rate of the image sequence on import. You lose quality converting to mpeg at too early a stage. Compression should really be the last step when exporting the completed edit for distribution on various devices.
