ProRes with Colored Look?
on Mar 16, 2017 at 10:57:14 pm

I used a company RED EPIC (Dragon Sensor) to do some R3D coloring work a couple years ago, but now I just use the camera to do some talking head video spots. I know it's overkill, but I'm wondering if the camera has a standard colored look that I can film ProRes so I can avoid having to do raw-coloring in post. This is corporate stuff that doesn't need a creative look, it just needs to be balanced.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
- Eric

Because the image is flat, I would take a clip that is representative of the rest of the clips, grade it properly, make a LUT from those, then transcode the rest of the clips using an input LUT in Adobe Media Encoder or something similar.

The RED can accept LOOKS built in REDCINE.
You will need help on this matter if you dont own the camera.
Its like using LUTs withing the camera itself during shoots.
I own one and have never tried.
I love the process from first light to final grade :)

You can set the camera to REC709 if you don't want the flat look. You will lose flexibility if you want it when color correcting but it sounds like you don't want to color correct.
