R3D File Conversion
on Nov 27, 2016 at 3:23:36 pm

Dear Creatives,

Could anyone kindly advise me on how to convert this R3D file to mov on Lion?

A002_C001_1004XZ_001.R3D
Unix Executable File

This is the link to the 243 MB file on Dropbox:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/wypnk5nwo1uie5b/A002_C006_1004TO_001.R3D%20copy?d...

I tried various video converters and none of them supported it (even though they were advertised as R3D converters!).

Your help would be very much appreciated. Thanks!

Install REDCINE-X PRO.

You can convert from that.

Somethings up with your file.

I cant get video on any export.

I might have a dated RCX at work.

I can try again when I get home.

I was finally able to convert those files from R3D to ProRes422HQ and they played well in VLC but when I imported them into Premiere CS4 (OSX LION) they stuttered as if frames were being skipped. I tried various project settings and interpret settings but nothing seems to work. Also the aspect ratio appears right on the source window but way oversized on the timeline viewer.
Unfortunately I can't reach the DP for specs on how he shot it so I can only go by the specs Premiere gives me and trial and error but I can't seem to get it right.

Can anyone out there please help me?

Specs should be in the MetaData and can read in REDCINEPRO-X.

Thanks. Maybe the files are too big for the system to handle: 2048 x 1080 in ProRes 422HQ. The source window always stutters as if frames were missing.
