Right Davinci or FCPX timeline size/format for Red camera footage shot in different sizes
on Apr 3, 2016 at 4:54:07 pm

Working for the fist time with RED footage(From a Scarlet with Mysterium sensor). Now I have to put all the footage together but I have footage in 4096x1708 REDcode 8:1 and 2048x854 (shot in slow motion) REDcode 8:1.

I'm trying to figure out what's the best timeline size and settings to be able to work with this footage and preserve the best quality for editing and then color correction.

I'll be working with FCPX and/or Davinci Resolve.

Thank you and I appreciate it if anybody could help me with this matter.

I am usually at 4K DCI 4096x2160 in FCPX but a current project has me in DCI Scope 2,39:1 which is 4096x1716.

I could suggest to just work in what ever works and scale up the slo-mo clips and export XML to Resolve and do your cropping there.

Thats what I had to do with my current project.
