First, download and install the latest version of Vegas (Build 670),
Then let us know if you still have this problem.

This is a relatively common problem. Still happening to lots of users VP12 with build 726 and also Movie studio. May be more common with dual monitor systems, apparently not related to video card, render threads, faulty RAM, DRAM preview, Quicktime version, GPU acceleration. The workaround is to open the dialog from a project with just a short (e.g. generated) clip, cancel the render, then open the project you are working on from the file menu. Anyone can pin it down would be great.

Hey!
This doesn't help at all ☹
The point of the thread is that when you click render, the software immediately closes. In that sense, you cannot even click the button at all. I have the same issue, and you say that we have to open a new video dialogue and then cancel it after starting to render it. We can't do that. There is no cancel button because we never get past the "render settings" page.
Right when I click the "render as" button, it immediatley closes and I haven't found a way to fix it ☹

I'm on the newest version of vegas 16, my PC is up-to-date with the newest drivers and windows 10, I've tried other methods like turning off GPU acceleration and messing with the program files, but to no avail :/
Please help!

Hi Kia

Just out of curiosity, are all of your files on your time line(s) from the same source ? You can also certify that none of them are variable frame rate ? (not bit rate)

Cheers !

Sorry this didn't help. You resurrected a zombie thread, six years old when Vegas was version 12 and still Sony. Nevertheless, my workaround still could work. If OTOH your program crashes as soon as you go file>render, your problem is unusual. If you are using a legit version of Vegas, suggest you take it up with Magix or try the Vegas forum. (if not legit, I think there's your problem).
