Hi guys, any advice appricated on this one, i am trying to take my videos to the next level and am wondering what is a good software package to learn to be able to add special effect to my videos. i shoot my own and edit them in vegas 6.

You should first understand for yourself what kind of effects you want to achieve. Maybe Vegas can handle them.

If not, take a look at After Effects.

Hi andrey i have no effects in mind, more so just want to learn how to do them, cant update to vegas 11 at the moment as laptop is not up to spec so will check out after effects. thanks for your reply appricate it. john

You'll almost certainly have to upgrade to Vegas 10 or 11, have a current operating system like Windows 7 (if you don't already), and have a powerful computer to run it.

After Effetcs has far greater prerequisite requirements than Vegas. It only runs on a 64-bit operating system for starters which I'm sure you dont't have running Vegas 6.

The question is really what effects are you looking to create? Unless you know what effects you want to make, you won't be able to find software that does what you want.
