Ken Burns Effect

Is there a "quick and easy" way to create the Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in Pro 10. I believe that Movie Studio advertises this effect by name, but I haven't seen something similar for Pro. I know that it can be done by using pan and crop, but I was hoping for something that can be done quickly using presets.

[Terry Fein] "Is there a "quick and easy" way to create the Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in Pro 10."
You would have to use a script to do this. Check out the Photo Montage tab of VASST Ultimate S Lite or Ultimate S Pro. It will do exactly what you want in one click. Here is a training video:

In the interest of full disclosure, I work at VASST. ;-)

Maybe I didn't get far enough into the video tutorial, but how you you apply the montage settings to only a portion of the timeline? I want to start the pan and zoom effects at a certain point in the project.

Make a timeline selection of the are you'd like to fill with the photo montage and create a Region (R key) and name it. Then when you use Photo Montage, check the Fit to Region option and only make the montage in that region. You can have it automatically calculate how long each event should be to fill that region or manual specify the duration if you'd like.

Thanks. I will try this. In the meantime, I managed to accomplish what I wanted by creating two separate video tracks and applying the montage to one of them--admittedly, a less elegant way of doing it. I have been using Vegas Pro for a fair amount of time, but still have significant knowledge gaps.

I've tried Montage Magic but it didn't seem to give me the fine grain tuning that I wanted. I still use it for simple jobs, but for the kind of Ken Burns look, I just jump into pan. It's not that hard! Learn it and use it to good affect/effect. (G).

So tell me Aleksey, in the interest of "full disclosure", do you work for Vegasaur? You seem to recommend them a lot.

And to make the story complete: there is a third way to create a "quick and easy" Ken Burns effect for a slideshow in Pro 10:

Excalibur

(No, I don't work for JetDV ;-) )

And hopefully soon we will have a fourth way to create quick and easy slideshows: Scatter 3D (John, is there any news about Scatter 3D?)

Thanks for your honesty. I just want to be sure that we differentiate recommendations from happy customers from those by people who stand to make a profit from it. It's always good to be upfront about your intention.
