Vegas Audio Editing Capabilities is Undeniable.

Just grabbed a copy of video copilot's "Pro Scores"
Awesome Musical Scores. Its refreshing to see that
Sony Vegas was the number one Audio editing capability
software of choice for numerous reasons.
Every seasoned Pro here knows that Sony Vegas is used
extensively in huge studios and film houses, but is
kept under hush. Then they say Pro-tools or another
big named DAW did it....(makes one wonder).

Do you remember when Vegas was audio only? It supports dirext x and VST pluggins too. If you don't need soft synths and midi you, really don't need another audio program. Danny

That's true Danny...

I mostly just use sound forge to handle detailed
manipulation and visual perception of the audio waveform
for fixing glitches, drops, gaps etc....

But when that is all done, everything is mixed, layered,
mastered and timed entirely in Vegas...which to me offer
a lot more flexibility than any dedicated audio application.

Absolutly Steve, Why leave Vegas for anything if it's not needed. And the open in audio editor feature is great as it puts the edited wav back the correct place in the timeline. I think most people are just used to having to use PT or another audio editor like with FCP or AVID. Everytime I play with those programs I thank Sony for Vegas, or should I say Sonic Foundry. The audio editing was the exact reason I took a chance on Vegas 6 a few years ago, as I knew I'd save a few bucks for the company I worked for in not having buy a dedicated audio app. I was a self-taught PTLE user at home, and I had no idea just how happy I'd be with Vegas. I was able to teach myself video editing on Vegas in pretty short order. Now, when I use FCP here and there, I am so glad I have a more efficient secret weapon in my pocket with Vegas Pro. Vegas as a solution for Web journalists like me is just about perfect. Can't speak for filmmakers though.

Well Sean,
I can tell you, if film makers gives it a chance, and drop
the perception that only one brand of NLE is the holy grail
of film making....you would certainly see it being used more
and more in a filmmaker's toolset and in Major Studious.

Trust me, Apart from offline editing, it's fully capable
of handling a film makers workflow.
