recording glitch with Sony AFX53 camcorder
on May 24, 2019 at 6:23:51 pm

I realize this is probably not the place to ask, but I can find nothing anywhere else.

When I record long meetings etc. on my AFX53, I find that I have a drop-out of 1 or 2 frames every 30 minutes or so when I import the video to Vegas pro. I am recording at 1080 HD. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Are you matching your Project Settings to your source media from the Sony?

Best Regards......George

Hi Kevin

I've seen some instances where the ingesting machine's CPU gets overtaxed and has momentary ''hiccups''. Could we get the details on your gear ?

Cheers ?

Hi

Are we talking about your camera regarding the FAT32 file system only supports files up 4GB in size?

Don't think Vegas can clip-spanning - as you can in Adobe Premiere! Maybe your camera came with a program - where you can put long recordings together without losing your picture and sound!

Best,
Ole

Doesn't using Device Explorer to import the clips stitch them?

Hi Eric,

I'm out of my element with the Sony file size restriction, but I have read user having a problem stitching their files together and ultimately used Sony Playmemories (I think that is the name of it) to solve their issue. May be worth a test.

Best Regards......George

I do believe my problem stems from a file size limitation, as when I import them, the clips all seem to be approx the same length and size. I looked at the Sony program mentioned and didn't see any mention of my problem. I guess I could capture the last frame of a clip and the first frame of the next clip to fill the gap. Does anyone have any other alternative? Thanks in advance.

As George has already mentioned - use the Sony Playmemories Home app - which will show your footage as one big clip - then you can save the whole clip and use in for example Vegas!

Best,
Ole
