I have been making short videos for YouTube for some time now. I have used the Sony AVC .mp4 format in a 1280 x 720 size. I just made a project that is nearly 1 hour long and when finished I get an error from my viewers that it is an unrecognizable format?
I can get a viewable file up to about 45 mins. Is there a size or time limit in Vegas?
Settings in Project, clip properties and Render settings:
Lower field first
7 mil bit rate
29097 frame rate
I have a pretty basic Dell desktop. I Ter drive. The properties state that it is using sys32 driver and the file system is NTFS.
I have been walking up in the percentage of the total project I render at one time to see if there's a break point. I have a successful render at 2.080 gig but when I went a little longer, 2.350 gig I got the Unknown Format error.
See if you can render in several sections by only rendering a timeline selection. What I am trying to determine is if the size of the file is the problem or a section of the timeline that's the problem. So render from the last point that worked to the end of the project and see if that renders. It may be something on your timeline that is corrupt.
I have tried sections (first half, center third, last half, etc.) to see if I could isolate a section with a corrupt clip. Every section worked. I then started increasing the rendered section until I found the break point. Here's what happened:
45 mins = 2.08 gig ... worked
50 mins = 2.347 gig ... got format error
I also rendered the entire project in .WMV instead of Sony's .mp4. It created a 1.9 gig file that ran fine.
