I am trying to make a simple animation of the nucleus of an atom being bombarded by particles. I have the wall set to a mask for the nucleus, but i was wondering is there any access to the specific calculations that happen in the collision detection.

I would like to be able to count the number of colisions, but even better would be to have the particles change colour on contact. In a perfect world I could use the emphemeral property in reverse. ie map Y speed to Red, Blue & Green.

I hope some one knows how to get under the hood, or if there is an even better way to do this.

Thanx so much

Impssible with Particle Playground.

I don't even know of a 2D Particle plugin that can do this.

Cinema 4D's thinking particles can do it, but it's not easy to grasp so it's best to hire someone else to do that for you.

Your other option wold be to create your own layer-based particle system, depending on the number of electrons you need to see, and how Three Dee it has to look, this could be a viable option.

Thanx anyways, I ended up doing a quick fix with some travelling mattes. It worked well enough anyways.
Same we can't get access to the in workings though
