Adding a fade time to a slider ease or linear expression

I'm trying to add an opacity fade time to a slider that has been mapped to an audio file.

Basically anything over 50 triggers the opacity to go from 0 to 100 rapidly, but it gos back to 0 just as fast. I'd like to be able to say in the expression something like: If the value of the slider is above 50, then trigger the opacity to scale from 0 to 100, and fade out over 0.5 seconds.

Is this possible?

thisComp.layer("Audio Amplitude").effect("Both Channels")("Slider")

ease(value,48,52,0,100)

It's not trivial, but this should help:
