Secondary text expressions?
on Nov 1, 2018 at 6:58:23 pm

Hi, so I have a paragraph of text animating on screen word by word via markers (functionality from the effect Type Array). I want to modify this expression to have each word type on by character, but still use markers to cue up each word. I've tried adding a secondary range expression in various ways, but they all either override the index+1 by word/marker or advance at the same rate as the word expression which obviously won't show the whole word at the right time.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you!

What's the expression you're using now?

I'm currently using Paul's effect preset "Type Array" http://paulslemmer.com/type-array/ so I don't feel comfortable posting all of the code, even though it is a "pay what you want" type deal. I think I've included the relevant section below.

tI=textIndex;
n = marker.numKeys;
if (n >= tI) {
delay = marker.key(tI).time - i;
} else {
if ( n > 0 ) {delay = marker.key(n).time - i + delay - n*delay/tI;}
}
}
