Import offline/blank Files per script
on Sep 26, 2018 at 8:13:48 am

Hey,

is there a possibility to import an offline/blank file per script, which will later be "filled"?
for Example:

var offlineFile = c:/project/frames.1001.exr
app.project.importFile(offlineFile);

The filesequence "frames.1001.exr" will later be rendered by the 3D-guys, but I already want to have a placeholder in my Project. Right now I get an error, that the file is not there.

Best wishes
Matthias

You could check to see if the file exists before you try to import it and take evasive action if it doesn't...

Hey Dan,

right now I'm doing exactly that by inserting a placeholder (importPlaceholder()) - but when the rendering is done, I still have to search and replace it. And because I'm a lazy guy, I want to avoid that and only want to refresh the offline file to get it online.
When you have a file and delete its footage, AE shows a placeholder with "missing footage" - so can I directly get this state per script? (Only in AE, I don't want to create a "fake shot" first and delete it...)
