Motion Trail - Never catch up the leader
on Dec 5, 2016 at 2:48:28 pm

Hello, I've read a lot of the forum posts and Dan Ebberts original blog about motion trails, but I haven't been able to sort this issue: I have a chain of shapes following one another in a line/multiple different lines but I don't want them to all overlap each other at the end.

Can I add something to my expression that will pause all the shapes when the leading shape stops moving? So far the chain works perfectly until the keys frames end.

Thanks

Libby

delayFrames = 3;
delay = framesToTime(delayFrames);
thisComp.layer(thisLayer, -1).transform.position.valueAtTime(time-delay)- [0,0,0];

See if the last three examples here help:

Thanks Dan.

I did try the slider method but at the moment my current expression gets me the exact look I want - the position part allows me to bend the chain and have multiple chains etc, which is what I need.

So i was hoping there is a way to add to the expression so that they pause together? Some kind of position delay?

Thanks so much!

Libby
