Adding random Opacity to hundreds of layers
on Dec 7, 2011 at 5:08:07 am

Im looking to add random opacity to about 300 layers and with out having to go to each layer and type in a expression. Plus, every layer has to be independent, meaning each layer has to have its own opacity shift and at its own time.

How would I do something like this?

Thanks!

You weren't very specific about what the expression should do, but here's a generic example:

maxDelay = 5;
seedRandom(index,true);
delay = random(maxDelay);
if (time >= delay)
random(100)
else
value

Once you apply the expression to one layer, select the Opacity property and Edit > Copy Expression Only, select all the other layers, Edit > Paste.

Awesome Dan, Thanks!

I just want the opacity to randomly change to look like the layers are flickering. So have the opacity change 30-60% randomly but constantly.

I got the hottest beats and the softest fur.
