Ok... I've got an issue with something that SHOULD be very simple:
I've built this decorative "ring" with various info on it that needs to rotate at various points throughout the spot. Without going into too much detail, the ring is fairly complicated in itself, and has a lot of layers, so I figured the best way to handle it was to precomp, and then set up a controller in the main comp to turn it as necessary.
[I can't simply use the rotation of the precomp - not the desired effect.]
This seems pretty straight-forward.
- I created an angle controller on a Null in the main comp.
- I linked the appropriate angle controller in the precomp to the one in the main comp.
- It works.
- I do something else.
- It stops working.
Here lies the problem. I can't seem to troubleshoot this, because it DOES work. The expression is correct, everything is right.... but then it just stops working. I've tried typing the expression, pickwhipping, moving the controller to other layers, etc... All with the same result. It works when I first set it up, then it stops.
If necessary, I can make it work by going into the precomp to set all my rotation keyframes, but... yeah, that's stupid.
Any suggestions? This seems to be some kind of glitch or something.
