hi, ive got the full version of after effects and have imported my file and put it on a composition and i cant get the audio to work, the file is a wmv file the video is working fine aswell, thanks for help.

Are you pressing spacebar to play your video? That's not a good way to do it in AE.

AE is not an editing application, it treats video in an entirely different way. It has to render video first, no matter how unaffected it is.

Press the 0 on the number pad (not at the top row of the keyboard) and it'll start to render your composition (you'll see a bit of green start showing up at the top of the timeline.) Depending on the speed of your computer's processor and the complexity of your animation it may take no time at all, it may take a few minutes. Either way, you will soon have enough of the video cached in your RAM to view some of it. How much it can cache at once depends on the complexity of the animation and how much RAM you have.
