Video conversion problem
on Oct 15, 2015 at 2:35:26 am

I’m trying to create a video file for a device that needs these specs:

File type: .avi or .mp4
codec: mpeg 1,2, or 4
audio codec: mp3

I can’t find of a way to do this in Compressor or Pavtube, and the latest version of Handbrake is producing video files with no audio if I set the audio track conversion to mp3. If anyone has any suggestions for better software or why Handbrake is not creating mp3 audio with the video file, I’d appreciate your input.

Thanks

Compressor uses AAC instead of MP3 for audio when encoding to H.264 video.

You don't mention how you are checking your encodes from Handbrake.
Perhaps you should check them in VLC.

Thanks for the reply. I was watching the finished mp4 video in Quicktime v10.4 or just hitting the spacebar on my Mac to view it, and there was no audio. But, when I play the file in VLC it does have audio. What does that mean? Is my Mac not able to recognize the mp3 audio with the video file?

Quicktime 10.4 probably doesn't play H.264 video with MP3 audio.
This doesn't have anything to do with your Mac as VLC is Mac compatible. It's Apple's choice of what their player can play. Quicktime 10 is far from a universal player.

Ok, thanks very much. I'll see if it will play on the client's device.
