Best compression settings for video files going on a DVD-Rom?
on Apr 14, 2015 at 2:31:52 pm

Hi there

I'm currently working on a DVD project featuring some time-lapse photography. I've been really disappointed with the limitations of DVD compression, and the appearance once the videos have been compressed to SD. As a way of getting around this I've decided to include full res versions on the DVD as part of a DVD-Rom. The uncompressed versions are over 4GB in size so I was wondering if anyone can advice what the best compression settings would be?

Thanks for any hep on this.

[Adam Bulley] "as part of a DVD-Rom"

The settings depend on how big the "part" is.
Duration times bit rate generally equals file size. You haven't provided any information for anyone to suggest in that framework.

Generally for best looking file I'd recommend encoding x264 .mp4 with CABAC Entropy and High Profile and doing multipass can helps as well.
