Hi guys,

I wondering if there is another method to create a 2d layers in a spheroid form without the need to purchase Planespace?

Ideas are welcome!

I don't care if it's a long haul / tedious method of putting flat layers in spherical shape.

Hi Charles -

There are a few scripts which do this. You can find them on:

I don't have time to do the search for you, but I know there's a script on there which will distribute layers on a sphere, cylinder, or box. The one I linked above may or may not be it. They are either very cheap or free, for the most part.

If these 2D layers have to remain flat but remain in a spherical configuration, Planespace is your best bet.

If you can curve them in so they look like they're part of a sphere, precomp them, scale them, then apply CC Sphere (comes with AE) to the precomp. To keep things looking right, you'd want to adjust the precomp settings so it's twice as wide as it is high.
