Hey guys!

I'm trying to create an intro for my production company. Now, I want to create dreamy clouds ala Dreamworks. Anyone know the BEST way I can do it with Particle Simulator? I saw a tutorial but it requires Trapcode Particular which costs a TON!

I would love to hear your guys' opinions!!

Thanks!!

Particular is capable of creating clouds- that's for sure, but so much more. Maybe you should think about investing in this plugin. However, if budgets are tight, there's a number of different ways in which you can do clouds. The trick is to design your effect after you are set on the camera moves. You can start by having multiple layers of real cloud images with alpha. For volume you can use Free Form (free with CS5) to do a 3d displacement of the cloud images.
Here's a link to an example of using 2d layers to give the impression ov volume- the clouds show up at the bottom of the frame:

Here's another example of using CC Particle World:

I agree with Ted; Particular is well worth the price for it.

Look here on the COW for a tutorial on the Harry Potter title intro. It's got some very nice clouds in it.
