I just got Adobe After Effects, and when i tried to open it up for the first time, i got the warning: "Could not rename the file /Users/Username/library/preferences/adobe/after effects/10.0/workspaces."

When i click ok, it gives me the same message again, and then says: "After effects cant continue: unexpected failure during application startup."

How can i get rid of this so i can start using After Effects?

(I already tried using command+control+shift when starting AE and trashed the preferences file. This didn't work so i deleted the 10.0 folder, and this made after effects jump up and down on my dock but then disappear.)

Sound's like a bad installation, you may need to un-install and re-install.

Alternately it might be a permissions issue since the error indicates that it could not rename a folder. Try fixing permissions first, if that fails, re-install.

The Adobe Forum may provide some answers.

Before you uninstall and reinstall, I'd get my software updated: go Help>Update.

I'm pretty sure the latest update, AE 10.0.2 is now available that way, and it supercedes all other updates, so you'll be good to go with it.
