Export alpha Channel Small size/dimension file After effects Cs5
on Apr 3, 2011 at 5:01:01 pm

Hi,
I am trying to render a 10 seconds video with the alpha channel with AE CS5. I used first Animation codec and then png with rgb+alpha, but the size of my file is always of 400 Mb. I need to reduce the size but not the quality because I need to import this video into an application.

Can you suggest me anything?

Thanks a lot! :)

It would help to know the details of what you are trying to achieve. What app do you need to import the movie in and why should the file size be small? A 10 sec clip with alpha channel in a standard format will be a large file. What format are you working in? It's good to give as much information from the beginning to get good answers.

Hi Tudor "Ted" Jelescu,
thank you for your answer.
I need to import the movie in a flash app. Yesterday I rendered at 1920*1080 (because the video will be seen on a monitor with the same resolution), 25 fps, quicktime, Rgb+Alpha and in the output module I put Png, 50% quality + audio AAC, 16 Bit. The result was a 800 Mb file.
So, I tried to reduce the resolution and it worked. Maybe it's the right way to follow. The video quality I obtained is good and the file size is smaller. What do you think?

Thanks again! :)

I never used video with Alpha in flash, but I know it is possible. Here are 3 links to articles and tutorials that may help you in this matter:
