Hey can anyone help me out with this effect. or point me in the direction to finding out for myself what the effect is in itself.

i tried analyzing the scene and searched for information as to how to accomplish this, but the thing is i'm not even really sure whats going so therefore i don't know what I am looking for. Is this like a text following a path kind of deal... I dunno SOMEONE PLEASE help me out thanks!

o btw I think the hand effect I can find out, its just the wiccan text thats got me stumped although I did notice some masking anyways I'm on the right path please let me know if not lead me there haha

My guess is that several layers of text were animated moving in various directions in an app like AE, precomposed and animated upward as a whole, then rendered with an alpha channel to a movie or image sequence which was then used as a UV Texture Map in a 3d app, and applied to a 3d model that matched the basic shape of the woman's torso and head. This was then rendered with an alpha channel, minus the 3d model, brought back into the compositor, and masked off where her shirt is. The movie clip was probably first Stabilized, then, after the compositing, unstabilized back to the original camera motion.

Good luck in your studies.

Looking at the clip again, I think the 3d app round trip could maybe be skipped by using the Freeform effect in CS5, or Bezier Warp in the previous versions.

Both of Joey's suggestions may apply- I would recommend the second. Using FreeForm to distort an animated text layer in 3d space would be my choice.
