This is just escaping me at the moment. Trying to paste a mask out of photoshop into AE. How do I make the mask come in at the correct size and not centered in the comp? It is now coming in way big and not in the right location to mask the object as it was done in PS.

thx
Steven

The H&V resolutions of the layers have to match, and it doesn't sound like yours do.

Ok, thanks. The other question is how to paste the mask into the correct position. ctrl-v pastes the mask into the center of the comp, but it was created on the left side to mask around a person. Can I have it paste into the correct position or will it always paste into the center?

I can't give you a straight answer; I don't know how your two layers differ.

Why not simply move it after you paste it?

I realize the frustration of getting a pasted mask to behave in a pixel-accurate matter, but it might be best to simply use the mask in Photoshop to create a simple luma matte and pull the alpha in After Effects....

Hope this helps!

Dave, the layers are identical size and shape. It's only a matter of the paste function centering everything in the frame. I'd like for it to paste into the same position it was cut from.

Michael, Moving the mask around after pasting is fine but in a project that involves a lot of this it slows things down considerably. That's why I want to figure this out to save a lot of time.

Mark, I'll check out the luma suggestion.

Thanks everyone!
