I'm having a "problem" with Trapcode Particlar.

Im trying to create a light stream/streak, so I've got my emitter layer (light) and I have set that as the emitter type for particular. I have then animated a simple motion path for the time being. I want basically a single line/stroke however when i set the emitter size to x 0 y 0 z 0 - the particles still disperse outwards?

Okay so I have persevered however the above problem does need solving. But that can be done later: I have now encountered another issue. I am animating the paths of my lights, and all was going well the paths were looking nice and smooth, and "curvy," curvy being the main word, I got to my 4th keyfram or so, and suddenly there is know curvature to the lines im creating, just sharp jagged changes of direction. I hope this is understandbale.

Position Subframe 10x Smooth

Velocity (all values, random, distribution, from motion) 0.0

Size of emitter 0.

This should solve your issues.

For the non-curvy lines, I'm guessing you accidentally turned the interpolation between your position keyframes to linear instead of bezier or one of the other, softer options.

As to why your particles are spewing out, turn the velocity to 0.

Okay is there any way of mirroring my motion paths, for example animate half of say a love heart for the other half to mirror it? This is something for my girlfreiend by the way haha.

Duplicate the light.
Create a null object, make it 3d and put it at the point you want the mirroring to occur.
Parent the light to the null.
Rotate the null 180 degrees on the Y axis.
Unparent the light from the null.

OR

Put the comp with half a heart inside of another comp.
Move the anchor point of the half heart layer to the point at which you want the mirroring to occur.
Duplicate the half heart layer.
Twirl down the transform options (or just press "s" for scale)
Unlink the x and y scales.
Make the X scale -100.
