Last night I was fooling around with CC Ball Action at home using AE 10. I applied it to a text layer with remarkable results: the effect properly adjusted, creates balls in 3D space, which respond to an AE camera.
But don't turn that Ball Action layer into a 3D layer! I did it last night, and for the first time ever AE crashed on me as I played with the layer's separate z position.
So while Ball Action does remarkable things, you need to deliberate just how you'll use it in a 3D environment. I should have also checked how a Ball action layer responds to lights and interacts when mixed with 3D layers, but I watched the State Of The Union Address instead.
Perhaps someone else can pick up the ball... so to speak.
